Getting more exercise

When determining how often to work out for positive health and fitness benefits, it depends on your goals and fitness level. For general health, the CDC suggests 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous activity weekly, combined with strength training twice a week.

If you’re new to fitness, aim for 3-4 days of exercise per week to allow for recovery. As you progress, you can increase to 4-6 days while varying intensity levels to prevent burnout. Getting More Outdoor Activity:

  • Take your strength workouts outside to a park or beach.
  • Incorporate walking, hiking, or cycling into your cardio routine.
  • Try outdoor group classes or sports like tennis or soccer for variety and motivation.
  • Plan weekend activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, or even a scenic run to enjoy nature while staying active.
